About This Course:

The Empowered Births and Beginnings Weekend Childbirth Education Course allows expectant parents to complete a thorough, well-rounded childbirth education class in a weekend, saving time without compromising any of the impactful and meaningful information and group experience.

Whether you’re looking to have a home birth, birth center birth or hospital birth, this course will leave you prepared, educated and empowered. I bring an evidence-based approach, gentle exercises, conscious breathing, and lots of #reallife conversations that are filled with oodles of love and compassion, empowering my students from day 1 to listen for what resonates and inviting them to trust their intuition.

Designed to give pregnant women and their birth partners the resources and inner confidence they need to meet the unpredictable emotional and physical challenges of labor, this course both educates AND empowers.

An Overview of the Course Content:

  • Breath, Movement and Mindfulness: Three Keys to an Empowered Birth

    • Understand how important breath, movement and mindfulness are to helping labor progress. Moms and labor partners will practice breathing techniques and an intro to movement during pregnancy to help foster awareness and presence in the body, that will help to create a foundation for labor.

  • The Letting Go of Labor: Stage 1 Labor (Early, Active and Transition) and Labor Support Techniques

    • Learn what’s happening physically in the body during Stage 1 labor (early, active and transition phases) as well what to expect emotionally in each phase. Labor partners, will learn techniques to support Mom during each phase of Stage 1 Labor, empowering them to take as active a role as you both feel comfortable with.

  • Labor Positions, Comfort Measures and Practice

    • Get ready to practice! You and your partner will learn about comfort measures, tools for labor, and practice multiple positions to help bring your baby into the world. You will "rehearse" a labor experience, giving you both confidence in your abilities and memories and tools to draw upon for the big day.

  • Pushing, Placentas and Making Informed Choices

    • We will cover what you need to know about natural, non-medical ways to encourage labor to begin (or progress) as well as a review of common medical interventions and induction protocols. We will discuss what your options are and what questions to ask your care provider in order to help you make informed and empowered choices. We’ll also focus on Stage 2 Labor (Pushing) and how to work with different techniques, tools, breath and movement during this powerful stage of labor. Lastly, we'll discuss what you need to know about Stage 3 Labor (Birth of the Placenta).

  • Preparing for Baby: The First Hour, The First Few Weeks

    • Moms and Dads will learn what to expect in the first hour of your baby arriving earthside, including common procedures in various birth settings, and how to ensure those first few moments are within your expectations and as sacred as possible.

    • Be prepared for the first few weeks by learning the basics of baby care and an intro to breastfeeding. We'll also discuss things you can do now to create a powerful beginning to your "4th Trimester" that is as soothing as possible for you and your baby.
