About This Course: 

The Empowered Birth Series Childbirth Education Classes offers couples a unique blend of evidence-based information, gentle exercises, conscious breathing, and #reallife conversations. These are classes for everyone, honoring all birth preferences and facilities and supporting those still discovering what kind of birth works for them.

  • Unsure whether you can handle the intensity or pain of labor without medication?

  • Curious about your options and looking to reduce fear and anxiety of labor?

  • Wanting to empower your partner to understand the birth process as well?

  • Looking to tap into and own what a rockstar you are when it comes to birthing your baby?

  • Hoping to meet other expecting couples and make connections?

In the Empowered Birth Series, you will address all of the above (and more) and you will be empowered to better understand your options for birth, get clear on your preferences, and reduce anxiety and stress about labor and the day you meet your sweet babe. 

*Note: This is 1 week after the previous class because of the Thanksgiving holiday. All other classes are every other week.

 

An Overview of the Course Content: 

  • Class 1: Breath, Movement and Mindfulness: Three Keys to an Empowered Birth

    • Understand how important breath, movement and mindfulness are to helping labor progress. Moms and labor partners will practice breathing techniques and an intro to movement during pregnancy to help foster awareness and presence in the body, that will help to create a foundation for labor. 

  • Class 2: The Letting Go of Labor: Stage 1 Labor (Early, Active and Transition) and Labor Support Techniques

    • Learn what’s happening physically in the body during Stage 1 labor (early, active and transition phases) as well what to expect emotionally in each phase. Labor partners, will learn techniques to support Mom during each phase of Stage 1 Labor, empowering them to take as active a role as you both feel comfortable with.

  • Class 3: Labor Positions, Comfort Measures and Practice 

    • ​Get ready to practice! You and your partner will learn about comfort measures, tools for labor, and practice multiple positions to help bring your baby into the world. You will "rehearse" a labor experience, giving you both confidence in your abilities and memories and tools to draw upon for the big day.

  • Class 4: Pushing, Placentas and Making Informed Choices 

    • We will cover what you need to know about natural, non-medical ways to encourage labor to begin (or progress) as well as a review of common medical interventions and induction protocols. We will discuss what your options are and what questions to ask your care provider in order to help you make informed and empowered choices.We’ll also focus on Stage 2 Labor (Pushing) and how to work with different techniques, tools, breath and movement during this powerful stage of labor. Lastly, we'll discuss what you need to know about Stage 3 Labor (Birth of the Placenta). 

  • Class 5: Preparing for Baby: The First Hour, The First Few Days, The First Few Weeks

    • Moms and Dads will learn what to expect in the first hour of your baby arriving earthside, including common procedures in various birth settings, and how to ensure those first few moments are within your expectations and as sacred as possible.  

    • Be prepared for the first few weeks by learning the basics of baby care and an intro to breastfeeding. We'll also discuss things you can do now to create a powerful beginning to your "4th Trimester" that is as soothing as possible for you and your baby.

Note: We reserve the right to cancel an event due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other circumstances. If we cancel an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of the event, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date.
